Overview

Get ready to kick off the holiday season with a little friendly competition and a whole lot of Christmas spirit!

Hosted by Augusta Premier Kickball, Kickmas for a Cause is a one-day charity kickball tournament bringing players, friends, families, and the Augusta community together for an afternoon of festive fun and fundraising.

But this isn’t your ordinary kickball tournament.

We’re putting a holiday twist on the game with Christmas-themed Power-Ups, surprise advantages, creative costumes, interactive challenges, and opportunities for spectators to get in on the action. Teams will compete on the field while raising money through activities that can change the game—and even the tournament standings.

Whether you’re playing for the championship, cheering from the sidelines, or just looking for a fun way to give back this holiday season, there’s something for everyone.

Kicking for a Greater Cause

This year’s tournament will benefit the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home, helping support an organization that provides care for Georgia’s military veterans.

As a nonprofit organization, Augusta Premier Kickball believes recreational sports can do more than bring people together—they can make a meaningful difference in our community.

That’s why we’re dedicating 50% of tournament proceeds to the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home, with the remaining 50% helping to fund the future growth of Augusta Premier Kickball (a 501(c)(7)).

Every registration, power-up purchase, challenge entry, and contribution helps support the event’s fundraising mission.

How the Tournament Works

Three Games. Endless Opportunities. One Champion.

Forget traditional elimination brackets! Kickmas for a Cause features a cumulative points competition, meaning every team stays in the running until the very end.

Each team is guaranteed three scheduled games, with additional opportunities to earn Tournament Points through holiday-themed competitions and fundraising activities.

Whether you’re winning games, scoring runs, showing off your Christmas spirit, or earning bonus points through Jingle Balls, every point contributes to your team’s final standing.

Tournament at a Glance

  • 3 Guaranteed Games: Every team plays three scheduled games, regardless of wins or losses.
  • 10–15 Players Per Team: Build your holiday dream team with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 registered players.
  • Cumulative Scoring: Earn Tournament Points through game results, runs scored, and designated holiday activities.
  • No Elimination Rounds: Every team remains eligible for the Tournament Championship until the competition concludes.
  • Earning Tournament Points: Unlike traditional kickball, winning games isn’t the only way to climb the leaderboard. Teams earn points through gameplay and special tournament activities.

How Is the Champion Determined?

Every Tournament Point earned throughout the day contributes to your team’s cumulative score.

At the conclusion of all scheduled games and point-earning activities, the team with the highest overall Tournament Point total will be crowned the Kickmas for a Cause Tournament Champion!

If teams finish with the same number of points, official tournament tiebreaker procedures will determine the final standings.

The bottom line? Every run matters, every activity counts, and no team is out of the competition until the final points are tallied.

Official Tournament Rules

Know the Rules. Embrace the Chaos.

Kickmas for a Cause follows Augusta Premier Kickball’s standard gameplay rules, with special tournament modifications designed for shorter games, cumulative scoring, and holiday-themed Power-Ups.

All teams are responsible for understanding the rules before tournament play begins.

Tournament Format

The tournament uses a cumulative points format rather than traditional elimination brackets.

Each team plays three scheduled games. Teams earn Tournament Points through game results, runs scored, Holiday Spirit voting, and designated tournament activities.

No teams are eliminated, and points accumulate throughout the event.

The team with the highest cumulative Tournament Point total at the conclusion of all games and activities will be declared Tournament Champion.

Game Length

Each game consists of four innings or 35 minutes, whichever occurs first.

  • No new inning may begin at or after the 30-minute mark.
  • Games end at 35 minutes upon completion of the current play.
  • Tied games remain tied; no extra innings are played.
  • If the home team leads after the top of the fourth inning, the game ends.
  • If the home team takes the lead during the bottom of the fourth inning, the game ends immediately.

The game clock generally does not stop for substitutions, power-ups, or ordinary delays.

Run Limits & Mercy Rule

A maximum of six runs may be scored by a team during any half-inning.

Once the sixth run scores, the half-inning immediately ends.

A game ends early if either team holds a lead of 10 or more runs after three complete innings.

Both teams will receive the opportunity to complete their third offensive half-inning before the mercy rule is applied.

All officially scored runs count toward cumulative Tournament Points.

Rosters & Player Eligibility

Each team must have a minimum of 10 registered players and may roster a maximum of 15.

All players must be registered, complete the required waiver, and appear on their team’s official tournament roster before the roster deadline.

Teams may field a maximum of 10 defensive players and must have at least nine eligible players available to begin and continue a game.

Players may not switch teams or participate for multiple teams during the tournament, except when specifically authorized by an official Tournament power-up.

Outside substitutes are not permitted once tournament play begins.

Gender & Lineup Requirements

Standard APK gender and lineup requirements apply unless specifically modified by an authorized tournament Power-Up.

Kicking Order

  • Teams must alternate male and female kickers.
  • Female players may kick more than once when necessary to maintain the alternating sequence.

Defense

  • A maximum of 10 defensive players may be fielded.
  • With 10 defensive players, at least four must be female.
  • Female players may play any defensive position.

Pitching

  • If a male player pitches, pitchers must alternate male and female each inning.
  • A female pitcher may pitch the entire game.

Bunting

  • Male bunting is prohibited.
  • Female bunting is permitted.

Tournament Standings & Tiebreakers

If two or more teams finish with the same cumulative Tournament Point total, the following tiebreakers apply in order:

  1. Holiday Spirit Votes
  2. Run Differential
  3. Most Wins
  4. Head-to-Head Result
  5. The Reindeer Shotgun

The Reindeer Shotgun: Each remaining tied team selects one player to chug a beer. First team to finish their beer wins.

Holiday Power-Up Rules

Tournament Power-Ups are optional fundraising purchases that introduce temporary gameplay advantages.

All Power-Ups must be presented to the umpire according to their individual usage requirements.

Power-Ups may not be applied retroactively unless specifically authorized.

Once a Power-Up is accepted by the umpire, it is considered used and cannot be refunded or reused.

Power-Ups do not permanently alter team rosters or standard gameplay requirements unless explicitly stated.

Tournament officials have final authority regarding Power-Up administration.
